The Africa Leadership Initiative – West Africa (ALIWA) in partnership with the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN) announces the launch of her 6th Fellowship Class, set to commence in October 2022. The Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa Fellowship is a program aimed at raising a new breed of community-spirited leaders, who have achieved notable success in their fields, to tackle the core developmental needs of our region. ALIWA has, so far, successfully graduated 93 Fellows from West Africa.

Modelled after the Henry Crown Fellowship of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, the Fellows will participate in a two-year long class comprising four residential seminars, exploring their own leadership and core values, their vision for a Good Society and also their desired legacies as leaders. An intrinsic part of the Fellowship is moving from thought to action: each Fellow will commit to carrying out a high-impact Leadership Venture of their own choosing — to be vetted and approved by their peers, which will not only stretch them, but will also positively impact to their communities, their country, or the world.

According to the Executive Director, Ayo Maji, “Our goal is to build a critical mass of values-based and high integrity leaders across West Africa. Our mission is to foster enlightened leadership, open-dialogue and regional integration by inspiring these leaders to serve as change agents in society.   I am excited about our new class of leaders stepping up in their leadership roles and being intentional about channelling their passion and energies towards addressing some of today’s societal gaps. Their varied backgrounds and diverse talent are certain to create an incredibly rich learning and fellowship experience. The Africa Leadership Initiative- West Africa’s cohort selection this year, includes Fellows from Liberia and Sierra Leone in addition to Ghana and Nigeria.”

The ALI WA Fellowship programme is a personal development journey for each of the Fellows – as they move from personal success to building out significant impact in their communities and the larger society.
